About Me

Disfruta Español was born in 2018 as I wanted to create a simple and convenient way to learn Spanish that works for everyone! When learning with us, there is lots of help and guidance available, our email is always there for you to ask any questions you have.

What’s unique about our content is that it's designed purely with holidays in mind! We don’t go into great depth about grammar, instead we focus on key topics that’s useful for whilst on holiday. From my experience with learning the language, I found that after spending many years studying Spanish I could write an essay about the Spanish civil war, yet I didn’t have the knowledge to do basic things like reserving a table and asking for directions. That’s why our courses are tailor made with vocab that you’ll be able to make use of!

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

What I found whilst learning Spanish is that not many courses/teachers actually tell you the basic ‘need to knows’ about the language. They don’t tend to teach you right from beginners level and they just presume that you already know the basics.

That’s why, on our learn at home courses we explain everything from scratch. We also frequently give hints and tips for pronouncing words as there are certain pronunciation rules in Spanish (see image).

We consider all the advantages of learning a language and incorporate them!

Such benefits include:

Making your holiday easier, hence more enjoyable!

Even if you’ve got a very basic ability to communicate with a native, in some situations this can be the difference between not being understood at all and achieving what you’re wanting to ask.

Keeping the brain active

There is an abundance of studies that show how learning a new language keeps the brain active.

Having an increased awareness of Hispanic culture

In each of our booklets for the learn at home course, there is an information page about a Spanish city giving info about typical food/drink, traditional fiestas in the area, 'must see' nearby attractions and any differences in dialect there may be in that city.

learn not only the language but about the culture too!

On our social media accounts, we frequently post hints and tips for learning the language and interesting things about Hispanic culture too. I personally think that if you’re learning a new language, it’s great to have an insight into the culture, so when you’re on holiday you can try the local cuisine and go sightseeing, maybe even get involved in a fiesta!
